Alexa Palmieri

MS, PA-C

Biography

Alexa Palmieri is a certified physician assistant and a member of the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, the New York State Society of PAs, and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. She received her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Albany Medical College in Albany, NY. Alexa earned her Bachelor of Science in human biology from the State University of New York at Albany in Albany, NY. She completed her postgraduate training at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY, where she completed an emergency ultrasound fellowship and worked in the emergency department there for seven years. Alexa is particularly interested in child development and adolescent medicine, as well as overall wellness and disease prevention.

When applying for college, Alexa knew that she wanted to pursue medicine. She was influenced and inspired by her childhood pediatrician, Dr. Glasgow, who always listened and provided clarity and guidance, and that was something Alexa wanted to be able to provide for patients as well. Through shadowing at her office, she discovered the PA profession. Alexa loves that being a PA gives her the ability to make a difference in her patients’ lives. She feels it is important to create an effective provider-patient relationship by listening to concerns and formulating well-communicated plans of action. She believes in advocating for her patients by encouraging them to be educated about and actively involved in their care to improve their overall health and outcomes.

Alexa and her husband lived and worked in western Long Island until May 2021, when they returned to the capital district to raise their family. Working in a Level I trauma center in the greater NYC area during a global pandemic was an experience that will stay with Alexa throughout her career and life. She feels very humbled by what she and her husband (as an ER physician) experienced during that time, and grateful to have the ability to practice medicine in a different capacity now.

Alexa is originally from Clifton Park, born and raised. She has two children and loves spending time with them as they learn and grow. Alexa played competitive tennis her whole life, including in college, and now plays with her sister for leisure. She enjoys running and spinning to keep active and to keep competition alive in her life.
