Victor VandeWal is a Mental Health Counselor and Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) on our Integrated Behavioral Health team. BHCs at Community Care Physicians are licensed mental health providers and social workers. Many are embedded within our practices working side by side with your doctor and health care team in delivering you the best “whole person” healthcare possible.
Victor has experience in both individual and couples counseling. He has treated depression, anxiety, stress management, substance abuse and recovery, and anger management. Victor’s work experience includes an adolescent psychiatric unit, an addiction and recovery center, primary care office, and a family counseling center.
Victor decided to pursue a career in behavioral health while working at a homeless shelter in Schenectady. He would see the same clients every week who visited for an afternoon meal. Although the shelter was a meeting place for basic needs, he also saw many who struggled with mental illness, mainly depression, and Victor wanted to be able to help those in need. His favorite part of his job is understanding the uniqueness of every individual and helping each person succeed in experiencing a higher quality of life.
Victor enjoys spending time with family, landscaping, working in flower gardens, and listening to uplifting and positive music.
