We are thrilled to welcome two outstanding clinicians to our Community Care family: Codie Madsen, MSN, FNP-BC, and Dr. Christopher Sears, MD. Their expertise, passion, and patient-centered approach will be tremendous assets to our network of care.

Meet Codie Madsen, MSN, FNP-BC

Codie joins us as a board-certified family nurse practitioner at CapitalCare Family Practice Averill Park, where she will provide care across the lifespan. She holds her Master of Science in Nursing (Family NP) from SUNY Poly in Utica and earned her BSN from SUNY Delhi. She began her nursing journey with an ASN from Maria College in Albany.

What makes Codie stand out is her extensive nursing background, which includes experience in long-term care, vascular surgery, intensive care, primary care, and end-of-life care. That broad exposure gives her a holistic lens: she believes in treating people, not just diagnoses. Her clinical interests include wound care, disease prevention and management, cardiovascular health, and diabetes. She places a strong emphasis on patient education because she wants every patient to leave the room confident, heard, and empowered.

Outside the clinic, Codie cherishes time with family and her dogs, and her philosophy in medicine is simple: “I treat all my patients the way I would want my loved ones treated.” We couldn’t be more excited to have her join the team at CapitalCare Family Practice Averill Park! Introducing Christopher Sears, MD

Dr. Christopher Sears comes aboard as a board-certified diagnostic radiologist serving the Capital Region. His academic path includes a medical degree from Albany Medical College and a bachelor’s degree from St. Lawrence University. He completed his radiology training through residency at the University of Virginia Health System. He is affiliated with Albany Medical Center and Columbia Memorial Hospital and works through ImageCare Medical Imaging.

As a diagnostic radiologist, Dr. Sears plays a crucial role, utilizing imaging to help pinpoint diagnoses, guide interventions, and support accurate and timely care for patients of all ages.
