Codie Madsen is a board-certified family nurse practitioner at CapitalCare Family Practice Averill Park, where she provides comprehensive care for patients of all ages. She earned her Master of Science in nursing, family nurse practitioner from SUNY Poly in Utica, NY, and her Bachelor of Science in nursing from SUNY Delhi in Delhi, NY. Codie also holds an Associate of Science in nursing from Maria College in Albany, NY. Her path to primary care began early in her career as an LPN at Community Care Physicians Internal Medicine – Delmar practice. It was there she discovered what she loved most about medicine: building lasting relationships with patients and their families while helping them navigate all aspects of their health.
Codie’s nursing experience spans long-term care, vascular surgery, intensive care, primary care, and end-of-life care. That wide-ranging exposure to patients with complex medical conditions taught her the importance of approaching healthcare holistically, focusing not just on one system or diagnosis, but on the complete picture of a person’s life and well-being. She believes primary care providers are the “home base” for patients — the advocates who connect all parts of a patient’s healthcare journey to achieve the best quality of life and outcomes.
Her clinical interests include wound care, disease prevention and management, cardiovascular health, and diabetes management. She especially enjoys educating patients, ensuring they understand their conditions and treatment plans so they feel empowered and supported in their care. Codie’s goal is for every patient to walk away knowing they have a trusted partner and advocate in their corner. Her philosophy is simple: “I treat all my patients the way I would want my loved ones treated.”
Outside of medicine, Codie treasures time with her family and her dogs. Whether in the exam room or at home, her approach to life and care is rooted in compassion, problem-solving, and determination.
