Dr. Stephen Kuehn is a family physician certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and certified in Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, and the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Kuehn received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. He completed his family medicine residency at Ellis Medicine in Schenectady, New York. Dr. Kuehn also earned a Bachelor of Arts in European history from Indiana University – Purdue University in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is interested in preventive medicine, military veteran issues, chronic disease management (i.e., high blood pressure, diabetes, etc.), musculoskeletal problems, chronic pain management, and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) directed at internal and skeletal structures.
Dr. Kuehn knew he wanted to be a physician after working as an ICU Patient Care Technician at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, New York. He joined the Army after 9/11 and worked with a Forward Surgical Team from Utica, New York, in a field hospital in Afghanistan. That experience made him pursue medicine. Dr. Kuehn enjoys spending time with his patients and likes to teach and help people help themselves by understanding their bodies better. He practices OMT to improve the body’s function for a variety of complaints, including diagnosing and treating headaches, sinus congestion, neck and back pain, constipation, foot and ankle pain, carpal tunnel, and many others with his hands, in conjunction with medications, physical therapy, and exercise.
The most important thing Dr. Kuehn can do is listen to you. He tries to know you as best as he can so he can hear you and understand you better. This helps him ask better questions and develop a care plan that will work for you. Dr. Kuehn will meet you where you are, give you the best advice medicine can offer, and help you enjoy your life. He tries his best to reduce suffering, educate you about your risk for illness, and manage your medical conditions within your goals.
Dr. Kuehn has been in the Army since 2002, previously on active duty and now in the New York National Guard. He loves working with his soldiers at drill and with veterans in his office. Dr. Kuehn finds a close connection with his military families that he truly enjoys. He is originally from Troy and settled in Saratoga County with his family. Outside of medicine, he enjoys riding his bicycle, running, hiking, playing with his two kids, and traveling with his wife.
