Leah Shamblin, MSN, FNP-C, is a Family Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate, individualized care that helps patients feel heard, respected, and empowered in their health. With a clinical background in cardiology and post-anesthesia care, including the management of critically ill and medically complex patients, she brings a broad clinical perspective to family medicine. She is passionate about preventive medicine, patient education, and building meaningful, lasting relationships with patients.
Inspired by her own experiences receiving care through the Indian Health Service, Leah recognized early on the importance of representation, diversity, and inclusion in healthcare. As an Indigenous woman, she is passionate about promoting health equity and providing culturally competent care that respects each patient’s unique background, beliefs, and experiences. She strives to create a welcoming environment where patients from all walks of life feel valued, understood, and supported.
Leah earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oklahoma State University and her Master of Science in Nursing from Russell Sage College. She also holds certifications in critical care (CCRN) and post-anesthesia nursing (CPAN). Her clinical interests include women’s health, cardiovascular health, preventive medicine, chronic disease management, and preoperative evaluation and surgical risk stratification.
Since relocating to the Capital Region with her husband, Leah has enjoyed becoming part of the community. Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and young son, staying active through Pilates, rock climbing, and ballet, and participating in traditional American Indian powwow dancing. She also loves traveling abroad, exploring new cultures, and experiencing different parts of the world.
Leah looks forward to building lasting relationships with her patients and providing thoughtful, personalized care that supports their health through every stage of life.
