Abigail O’Connor (Abby) is a Mental Health Counselor and works as a Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) in Integrated Behavioral Health. BHCs at Community Care Physicians are embedded within our practices working side by side with your doctor and healthcare team in delivering you the best “whole person” healthcare possible.
Abby is dedicated to helping patients build practical coping skills, navigate life’s challenges, and make meaningful changes that support their overall health and wellness. She takes a compassionate, patient-centered approach, creating a supportive environment where patients feel heard, understood, and empowered to reach their goals.
Abby earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from SUNY Oneonta and her Master of Arts in Community and Counseling Psychology from Russell Sage College. She is a member of the New York Mental Health Counselors Association (NYMHCA) and Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology.
Her clinical experience includes providing individual and group therapy for adults using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing. She has worked with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, trauma-related concerns, substance use challenges, difficulties with emotional regulation, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and major life transitions.
Prior to joining Community Care Physicians, Abby worked at Four Winds Saratoga, supporting adults in a partial hospitalization program where DBT skills were integrated into treatment. She also worked in a preschool setting, helping children develop emotional regulation, problem-solving abilities, and healthy coping skills.
Abby’s passion for behavioral health grew during her undergraduate studies and was further strengthened through her clinical training experiences, where she witnessed the resilience of individuals and the positive impact that timely behavioral health support can have on overall well-being.
As a Behavioral Health Consultant, Abby works collaboratively with patients and their healthcare team to identify strengths, address barriers to health, and develop practical strategies that support both physical and emotional wellness.
Outside of work, Abby enjoys cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time outdoors. She especially enjoys time with family, friends, and her two dogs, Max and Mason.
