World Mental Health Day: Join Us for a Webinar on Mental Health in Times of Catastrophe and Emergencies

October 10th marks World Mental Health Day, a time to reflect on the importance of mental health and how communities can support one another—especially during crises. This year, CCP’s Integrated Behavioral Health is hosting a timely webinar focused on this year’s theme: Mental Health in Times of Catastrophe and Emergencies.

According to the World Health Organization, millions of people each year are affected—directly or indirectly—by armed conflicts, natural disasters, and community violence. These events disrupt daily life, impact families, and strain essential services, but their effects go deeper, often leaving a lasting imprint on mental health.

In this webinar, we’ll go beyond discussing common barriers such as stigma, lack of resources, and limited access to mental health support. We’ll also address urgent questions arising from recent tragic events, including how to manage the psychological impact of crisis—even when you are not directly involved.

What we’ll explore in this session:
  • How parents can discuss frightening events with children in age-appropriate and supportive ways
  • How to check in with friends, family, and coworkers when tragedy dominates the news cycle
  • Strategies to protect your own mental well-being—staying informed without becoming overwhelmed, avoiding both avoidance and overexposure
  • Practical ways to reduce vicarious trauma, anxiety, and emotional fatigue when following media coverage
  • How Integrated Behavioral Health’s mission—expanding access, reducing stigma, and fostering collaboration between medical and behavioral health providers—helps communities cope and recover

Whether you are currently seeking mental health services or want to strengthen your own resilience, this webinar will equip you with actionable tools to support yourself and others during challenging times.
