Self-Care Strategies

During stressful times, much like we’re experiencing currently due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we must be sleeping enough, moving enough, connecting with people we care about, and doing things we enjoy. Still, it’s also important to make sure we’re doing our best to eat healthily.  Eating a healthy diet isn’t about strict limitations, or depriving yourself of the foods you love. Instead, it’s about feeling great, having more energy, improving your health, and boosting your mood. Here are a few helpful tips to think about when it comes to healthy eating:

  • Prepare your own meals as often as possible
  • Plan your meals ahead of time and meal prep
  • Shop the perimeter of the grocery store as much as possible
  • Try not to think of certain foods as “off-limits”
  • Replace processed food with real food whenever possible
  • Try to “eat the rainbow” which will guarantee you’re eating more fruits and vegetables and fewer processed foods
