Dr. Megan Austin received her medical degree from Saba University School of Medicine in The Bottom, Caribbean Netherlands. She completed an internship and pediatric residency at the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio. Dr. Austin began her studies at Stetson University in Deland, Florida, earning a Bachelor of Arts in international studies. She went on to receive a Master of Arts in international relations from Webster University in Merritt Island, Florida. Dr. Austin treats children and teenagers at Community Care Pediatrics – Saratoga at both locations in Gansevoort and Malta. She is particularly interested in pediatric mental health.
During her biology courses in college, the professor pointed out many links to biology and medicine, and she soon realized those topics she was interested in most. This led Dr. Austin to complete shadowing opportunities at local hospitals and pediatrician offices, ultimately influencing her to switch to premedical coursework. She completed her biomedical sciences prerequisites at the University of Florida in Orlando, Florida.
Her favorite part of being a pediatrician is when parents feel relieved after seeing her, getting their concerns and questions answered, and thanking her for caring for their child. Dr. Austin loves watching babies grow happy, healthy, and strong through the years and is always so shocked at how fast they grow. She loves getting to know her patients and hearing about school and their favorite sports. Dr. Austin believes in taking the time to make sure all questions and concerns are addressed. She works as hard as possible to ensure patients are happy and healthy and will always be on the patient’s side. She looks forward to watching patients grow from babies to young adults and being there for all their milestones.
Dr. Austin is originally from Cocoa, Florida but was drawn to the Capital Region area to be closer to family. Outside medicine, Dr. Austin loves visiting lakes, taking her dogs for a walk, gardening, and getting to know the local trails.
