Lisa Barash is a certified physician assistant who provides care for adult patients at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. She received her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Albany Medical College in Albany, NY. Lisa completed her Bachelor of Science in microbiology from the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
Lisa decided to pursue medicine during her sophomore year of college and became committed to becoming a physician assistant in her junior year. She loved biology growing up and took time in college to decide whether to pursue research or healthcare. Lisa decided she wanted to make more of an impact in patients’ lives and enjoyed working in healthcare more. She gained experience as an EMT and a patient care technician before her graduate studies. Throughout her experience and studies, Lisa gained recognition for the correlation between therapy adherence and patient health literacy. She enjoys taking the time to educate patients on disease processes and performing shared-decision making. As a healthcare provider, Lisa strives to focus on the development and increase of patient health literacy.
When she’s not at work, Lisa, originally from Niskayuna, NY, enjoys a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking and paddle boarding. She also has a pet rabbit that she adores.
