Dr. Joshua Ross is double-board certified in the specialties of anesthesiology and pain medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the American Society of Regional Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, the International Pain and Spine Intervention Society, and the New York Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Stony Brook University School of Medicine in Stony Brook, NY, and completed his internship in General Surgery at North Shore-LIJ Health System in Long Island, NY. Dr. Ross completed his anesthesiology residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA where he earned the Sir James Young Simpson Award for Excellence in Pain Medicine. He then completed a fellowship in Pain Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania during which time he earned the Dell Burkey Award for Excellence in Pain Medicine.
Dr. Ross always knew he wanted to become a physician as he had a passion for science and a desire to help people. He pursued Pain Medicine because of his interest in the science of pain and the growing advancements in its treatment. What he loves most about being a physician is empowering patients to take control of their own well-being, resulting in improvement of their health and happiness.
Dr. Ross understands that chronic pain is very complex and he recognizes that each individual has specific factors which affect their pain experience. He feels that effective diagnosis and treatment involve thoroughness in addressing the different contributors to pain. Using a Biopsychosocial approach, he offers evidence-based, multimodal treatment plans with an emphasis on patient safety and active involvement in one’s own care. He values that Community Care Physicians offers multiple integrated service lines which provides the unique opportunity to introduce an Interdisciplinary Pain Management program to the Capital Region.
Dr. Ross is originally from Long Island, NY, and fell in love with the Adirondacks, which drew him to the Capital Region. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and dog, boating, fishing, skiing, and pickleball.
