Emily McCarty is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) on our Integrated Behavioral Health team. BHCs at Community Care Physicians are licensed mental health providers and social workers. Many are embedded within our practices working side by side with your doctor and health care team in delivering you the best “whole person” healthcare possible.
Emily’s background includes individual, family, couples, geriatric and collegiate counseling. She has eight years of experience working in intensive care units, counseling families through end-of-life decisions. In addition, she has extensive experience in a community-based mental health clinic, counseling individuals with grief, trauma, PTSD, chronic illness, anxiety, stress management, depression, recovery, bipolar, and personality disorders.
Emily decided to pursue behavioral health after being intrigued by the field of developmental psychology in her undergraduate work. She soon realized that the compassion she felt for most of her life for those in need could be used in working with individuals struggling with mental health issues or just the struggle of everyday life. Emily often thinks people feel very alone, and being present for people in their struggles is challenging but also very profound and privileged work. She believes it is an honor to walk alongside someone, whatever their journey may be, and help them learn ways to cope and better manage whatever is going on.
Outside of helping others, she is active in her Church and enjoys spending time with her family and at the beach.
