Certified Nurse Practitioner, Donna Rector, earned her title as Registered Nurse from Ellis Hospital School of Nursing. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science from Empire State College. Donna became a certified family nurse practitioner from Community General Hospital in Syracuse; she then proceeded to earn her master’s degree from SUNY Utica-Rome. Donna is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Prior to joining Community Care Physicians, Donna spent 22 years in various disciplines, including emergency care, geriatrics, primary care, family medicine, college health, and women’s health. Donna chose to specialize in internal medicine because she wanted to be able to take care of patients over their lifespan. She also has a particular medical interest in geriatrics. Donna had always known she wanted to be in medicine since she was young; she naturally stepped forward as a caretaker whenever she got the chance. She is also the oldest of 5 children and was a natural nurturer. Her favorite part of her job is getting to hold the hand of a patient, seeing a glimmer in their eye, and knowing that she has made a connection with that patient.
In her spare time, Donna loves to read, garden, and listen to all kinds of music. She also likes to golf, travel, enjoy nature, and volunteer at the Regional Food Bank.
