Breanna Tahany is a certified physician assistant and a member of the New York State Society of PAs and the American Academy of Physician Associates. She received her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Breanna began her studies at Binghamton University in Binghamton, NY, earning her Bachelor of Arts in biology. She chose to specialize in family medicine to establish a strong bond with patients and see them throughout their healthcare journey. Breanna is particularly interested in working with the pediatric population and educating patients of all ages about preventative healthcare. During her family medicine rotation, she experienced the impact of preventive medicine firsthand. She ordered specific screenings based on patients’ personal or family histories and was able to intervene medically before disease processes began.
Breanna knew she wanted to practice medicine since she was a sophomore in high school. She always looked forward to her biology and health classes. Once in college, she started selecting courses specific to her interests in the medical field, which is when Breanna became an EMT and started volunteering in her community, providing healthcare to those in need.
Her favorite part of being a PA is seeing the difference she makes in her patients’ lives. She enjoys sitting and talking with her patients and devising a healthcare plan that is most feasible for their lives to help them best achieve their health goals. Breanna believes that patient-driven healthcare is most important. She wants her patients to leave the office knowing that their needs have been heard and confident in the decisions made as a team in the office.
Breanna was born and raised in Huntington, NY, on Long Island. During PA school, she became friends with many people in the program from the Albany area, and she started visiting more frequently and fell in love with all that the Capital Region has to offer. Breanna likes going to the gym, skiing, hiking, and cooking new recipes. She also enjoys quality downtime, watching a good movie, or reading a thrilling book.
