Community Care Physicians will open its first daytime Urgent Care in Albany on Monday, July 11. The new Center, Urgent Care Center of Albany, will be located at 391 Myrtle Avenue and will be open 7 days a week from 10am to 8pm and holidays from 10am to 5pm. The Urgent Care Center of Albany will offer walk in care everyday for non-life-threatening, but still urgent, illness and injury for anyone over the age of 3 months old.
The Urgent Care is located directly across the street from Albany Med’s Emergency Room. “This is a key location, as many patients who visit the ER would actually benefit from an Urgent Care instead,” said Ranen Chakraborty, DO physician at Urgent Care and Director of several of CCP’s Urgent Care Centers. “Patients, as well as their physicians, are looking for alternatives to the traditional, and often unnecessary, trip to the hospital when unexpected needs arise. Urgent Care can provide patients with high quality of care, much more quickly and more efficiently, saving time and money.”
Patients can visit The Urgent Care Center of Albany for illnesses and injuries including colds, flu symptoms, infections, urinary tract infections, upper respiratory issues, sore throat, strep throat, runny nose, minor injuries such as fractures, sprains, strains, cuts and stitches, rashes, and allergic reactions. Urgent Care Center of Albany also has more advanced offerings on site, such as lab and X-Ray for diagnostic purposes through ImageCare Medical Imaging, also part of Community Care Physicians.
“It’s important that patients are educated as to what needs can be treated in an Urgent Care, what can wait for their regular doctor to treat, and what requires emergency care at a hospital,” said Dr. Chakraborty. “Community Care Physicians understands the importance of Urgent Care in the spectrum of healthcare services for patients.”
