Step Into Wellness: “Walk with a Doc” with CCP

Let’s put the “move” in medicine—without the prescription.

Why This Matters (and Why You Should Care)

Walk with a Doc is where health advice meets fresh air, minus the waiting room magazines. It’s a free, community-centered walking program for all ages and abilities, led by Dr. Swatantra Mitta from Community Care Pediatrics in Clifton Park, NY. A parent or guardian must accompany children.

The program allows participants to safely take a walk, learn about current health topics, and meet new people. It’s guaranteed to boost your mood and get those muscles moving!

What You’ll Actually Do

  1. Walk (or stroll—your pace, your call). Whether you’re a speed walker or a gentle stepper, all you need is comfortable shoes and a water bottle. It’s inclusive, low-stress, and physically inclusive.
  2. Learn on the go. Each session kicks off with a bite-sized health talk from Dr. Mitta—think “TED Talk meets sidewalk talk.” It’s your chance to turn casual conversation into actionable insight, on topics like stress management, heart health, or whatever’s on our doc’s mind.
  3. Connect. It’s almost guaranteed (and scientifically proven) that chatting while walking builds more than muscles. The program fosters social bonds that are just as crucial to health as exercise. Talk, laugh, ask questions. It’s a human connection with a side of fresh air.

Movement + Education + Connection

This isn’t rocket science—but it practically is a prescription for a better life. The Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion highlights Walk with a Doc’s success in merging movement, medicine, and meaningful conversation.

The key? Simplicity.

The medium? Walking.

The result? Real, sustainable wellness.
