Sarah Russell is a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner and a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. She received her Master of Science in nursing with a focus on pediatric primary care from Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, NY. Sarah began her nursing studies at Hartwick College, Oneonta, NY, earning her Bachelor of Science.
During Sarah’s late elementary and middle school years, she was in and out of specialty offices until she was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency. Getting labs drawn, x-rays, and having frequent doctor’s appointments, and she remembers, as a child, it was a scary experience. But this time in her life later sparked her passion for making healthcare a safe and happy place for pediatric patients. Sarah was a patient at a local hospital for a few years and started her career at that same hospital as a registered nurse in pediatrics. This experience helped grow her love for the pediatric field even more and encouraged her to further her career and pursue an advanced nursing degree.
Working with children makes her job fun and exciting each day. Her favorite part is watching children grow and develop over the years and being a trusted member of their care throughout the process. Sarah believes the most important thing when caring for patients is creating a trusted patient-provider bond and being a steady member in her patient’s health and well-being. She understands the importance of including patients’ families at the center of their care and working as a team to provide the best care possible. Health maintenance and preventative care are two aspects of patient care Sarah likes to cover to ensure her patients stay healthy and happy. She will always advocate for her patients and be a listening ear when concerns arise.
Sarah is originally from Saratoga Springs, NY, but now resides in Ballston Spa, NY. Outside work, she loves spending time with her husband, daughter, and two dogs. Sarah enjoys traveling, hanging out with friends and family, and going for a run on a nice day. She also has the biggest sweet tooth and loves to bake on her days off!
