Meeting is a beginning, keeping together is progress, and working together is success.
Michael O’Rourke is a certified physician assistant and a member of the Endocrine Society. He completed his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Albany Medical College in Albany, NY. Michael began his studies at The State University of New York at Oneonta, earning his Bachelor of Science in biology. He has a particular interest in diabetic health, insulin pump therapy, and transgender medicine.
Michael is a type 1 diabetic and always wanted to help patients with similar conditions, so he pursued a career in the medical field. He was diagnosed at the age of 16 and had an amazing PA who helped him work through associated challenges. This PA inspired Michael to provide the same compassion and support to others! His favorite part of the job is the patients – educating them on their condition and forming long-term relationships. Michael believes communicating in a transparent, honest, and direct manner is most important when caring for his patients.
As a person with diabetes himself, Michael knows how challenging it can be to manage endocrine diseases. He is committed to providing comprehensive endocrine care while working with his patients as a team. Michael loves seeing patients take their health into their own hands and crushing their obstacles!
Michael enjoys baking, attending CrossFit classes, running, yoga, meditating, and being outdoors in his spare time.
