Dr. Matthew Stringer is a board-certified urologist with a comprehensive background in both civilian and military medicine. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of kidney stones, prostate disease, erectile dysfunction, urinary incontinence, hormone imbalances in both men and women, Peyronie’s disease, vasectomy, and vasectomy reversal. Originally from Syracuse, NY, Dr. Stringer earned his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He completed a general surgery internship and a urology residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Prior to medical school, he began his academic journey at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY, and later completed postgraduate coursework in physics at Harvard Extension School in Boston, MA. He is a proud member of both the American Urologic Association and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Stringer served as a Urologist in the U.S. Air Force for over a decade, where one of the most formative experiences of his career was caring for soldiers with urologic injuries sustained in combat. “To be on a cutting-edge team that used surgery and medicine to restore urinary and sexual health to injured soldiers was a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” he says. That mission-driven focus continues to shape his practice today, as he strives to restore not just physical function, but the full spectrum of life that can be affected by urologic conditions—relationships, sleep, career, hobbies, and personal identity.
A firm believer in personalized care, Dr. Stringer carefully tailors each treatment plan based on how a patient’s symptoms impact their day-to-day life. Whether through minimally invasive surgery or other advanced treatments, he brings both technical skill and deep empathy to every encounter.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Stringer is passionate about music, athletics, and community service. He plays acoustic guitar and mandolin—continuing a family tradition of musicality—and volunteers his medical expertise on mission trips to Central America and at Camp Dudley, a nonprofit summer camp in Westport, NY. An avid athlete, he enjoys pickleball, mountain biking, road cycling, Nordic skiing, and snowboarding. He sees strong parallels between surgery and sports: “Both require discipline, self-reflection, and a constant drive to improve.”
