Marie (Therese) Paggao is a board-certified family nurse practitioner fluent in Tagalog, specializing in adult care with a focus on chronic disease management and prevention. She earned her Master of Science in nursing from United States University in San Diego, CA, her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Chamberlain University in Rosemont, IL, and her associate degree in nursing from Union County College in Union, NJ. Therese is also a certified nephrology nurse and a certified clinical transplant coordinator. She is a member of the American Nurses Association and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Therese knew from a young age that she wanted to pursue a career in medicine. She finds deep fulfillment in educating patients and empowering them to take better care of themselves, and she especially enjoys seeing patients successfully manage their health over time. When caring for patients with chronic conditions, Therese takes a whole-person approach—addressing physical, mental, and emotional well-being. She is known for being patient, empathetic, and an attentive listener.
Therese’s care philosophy centers on education, partnership, and empowerment. She believes patients achieve better outcomes when they are active participants in their care and understand how to manage their conditions effectively. Her nursing experience has reinforced her belief in the importance of compassion, reminding her that even small gestures—like a comforting presence or a reassuring touch—can play a powerful role in healing.
Born and raised in the Philippines, Therese immigrated to the United States at age 17 and lived in New Jersey for more than 20 years before relocating to the Capital Region of New York. She has participated in two overseas medical missions. Outside of work, Therese enjoys cooking and baking, crocheting, knitting, interior decorating, and crafting.
