Originally from Canada, Dr. Karson Schroeder is a resident physician at Albany Family Medicine in Albany, NY. He attended the University of British Columbia in Canada as an undergrad and completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland in Australia. Dr. Schroeder was drawn to medicine by the prospect of a career that fosters a sense of community, where he could work within a team, build trusting relationships with those around him, and learn how to help improve the health and well-being of his community. Family Medicine, in particular, has always been Dr. Schroeder’s goal. It offers the unique opportunity to work with people of all ages, support individuals in making preventative health decisions and lifestyle changes, and have a broad set of knowledge and skills that allows him to work in a variety of healthcare settings. Outside of medicine, his go-to activities usually involve anything outdoors and active, but he also finds joy in reading and board games (Catan, Terra Mystica, and Ticket to Ride especially!). Dr. Schroeder grew up playing soccer, basketball, and baseball and continued playing on semi-competitive teams throughout medical school. You will likely find him hiking/backpacking, snowboarding, or kayaking on the weekends. He has been fortunate to explore the Himalayas, Rocky Mountains, Pacific Coastal Mountains, and Australian Scenic Rim!
