James Walders

MD

Biography

I grew up three doors away from our local GP, and he always was busy helping people with health problems. I consider him my role model and why I went into medicine. There never seemed to be any other calling that could match medicine.

Dr. James Walders is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Inspired by his local GP growing up, he earned his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, followed by his internship and residency in medicine at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ. Dr. Walders specializes in outpatient adult and preventive health care. He has extensive experience caring for residents in long-term care as well as in rehabilitation settings, providing health services to young adults in the higher education system, and caring for adults with developmental disabilities. Preventative care has always been one of his interests, ensuring patients are healthy enough to do the things they enjoy in life, such as play, exercise, work, vacations, etc.

Dr. Walders’ favorite part about his job is being able to see people and families over the years, even several generations of patients from the same extended family. He believes medicine is still a “word of mouth” type referral system; if patients are happy with the care they’re receiving, they recommend you to others in their world, such as family, coworkers, and friends.

In his downtime, Dr. Walders enjoys bowling, gardening, traveling, and visiting his daughter and son-in-law (who are both physician assistants) in California and their three children.
