Biography

Dr. Arun Puranik is a board-certified radiation oncologist at CCP’s Image Guided Radiation Therapy in Latham. After graduating from medical education in India, he underwent residency and fellowship in radiation oncology at SUNY Health Science Center, Syracuse, NY. He has been practicing radiation oncology in the area since 1985. In the Capital Region, he was the first to introduce prostate seed implants in 1996, first to treat patients with IMRT in 2001, and first to bring cone beam CT guidance in 2005. As Image Guided Radiation Therapy relocates to Wellness Way in Latham in 2024, they will also be bringing new technology by offering Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) capability to precisely target tumors with accuracy within one millimeter in the brain and body. Dr. Puranik was a member of the NYS Health Research Science Board for many years and was awarded the prestigious Physician of the Year Award by the American Cancer Society. Dr. Puranik has been recognized by Varian Medical Systems for innovation in IGRT.
