Arun Puranik

Biography

Dr. Arun Puranik is a board-certified radiation oncologist since 1984. After graduating from medical education in India, he underwent residency and fellowship in radiation oncology at SUNY Health Science Center, Syracuse, NY. He has been practicing radiation oncology in the Capital Region since 1985, including his initial five years at Albany Medical Center.

In the Capital Region, Dr. Puranik was the first to introduce prostate seed implants in 1996, first to treat patients with IMRT in 2001, and first to bring cone beam CT guidance in 2005. He has been continuously practicing in the Capital Region for the last 35 years. He performs prostate seed implants at Albany Medical Center.

Dr. Puranik was a member of the NYS Health Research Science Board for many years and was awarded by the American Cancer Society.
