Fight Stress with These Healthy Habits

Stress can have an immediate effect on our bodies. Chronic stress can lead to serious complications down the road. Stress can wreck havoc on your immune system, your respiratory and cardiovascular systems, and even your sexuality and reproductive systems

Having a healthy lifestyle can actually protect you from the harmful effects of stress. Here are some simple healthy lifestyle tips that can help you battle stress:

1.Friends & Family Interaction: Sharing your feelings with friends or family members can help you safely fight stress. Interact with someone close to you when you're feeling stressed or anxious. Venting is always great medicine.

2.Get Moving: Physical activity can help you feel happier and stress free for a number of reasons. For one, physical activity releases endorphins in the brain. Endorphins act as a natural drug that makes us more energetic and happier. Physical activity has also been linked to lower depression rates in adults and increased mental function. Here are some more reasons why physical activity makes you happier and stress-free.

3.Don't Forget to Laugh: Laughing makes us feel good, which doesn't just lighten our load mentally, it actually induces physical changes in your body. Laughing increases the endorphins that are released in your brain, just like working out does. Laughing also soothes tension by stimulating circulation and aid in muscle relaxation, both of which can help reduce the physical symptoms of stress.

4.Decrease Your Alcohol Consumption: Drinking alcohol can actually make you anxious the next day and anxiety can lead to harmful stress on the body. Why? Well as your body rids itself of alcohol, your blood sugar drops and inflammation kicks in. A low blood sugar level can lead to feelings of nervousness and an increase in inflammation can affect your nervous system.

5.Get Organized: A cluttered work environment or a large workload can all cause stress on the body. Try getting organized with to-do lists and take on one big project at a time. Break down that project into smaller components.

6.Don't Worry: Try not worrying about the small things in life, like when you will have time to go to the market. Do breathing exercises and try some yoga to reduce stress and anxiety.

7.Get Enough Sleep: Getting enough sleep isn't just important for weight management, it's also important for stress control. A lack of sleep will throw your system off balance. Lack of sleep can lead to drowsiness, irritability, and fog, which can all lead to stress, especially if we have a big day ahead of us. Try getting between 6-8 hours of sleep each night.

Remember to breathe and take a moment to think about your day and the tasks at hand. Stress can cause serious long-term issues, so following these simply healthy lifestyle habits can help combat that.
