Dr. Michael Cooley is board certified in radiology and was previously board certified in internal medicine. He earned his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School. Dr. Cooley began his studies at Middlebury College. He completed his radiology and internal medicine residencies at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA, where he also completed a fellowship in musculoskeletal imaging and served as Chief Resident. He is the musculoskeletal imaging section head and has particular interest in sports, tumor, and rheumatology imaging. He interprets radiographs, ultrasound, CT, MR, and performs both ultrasound and fluoroscopic guided injections.
Dr. Cooley was inspired to pursue a career in medicine having grown up in a family of local physicians. He is an active participant of the Sarcoma group, a multidisciplinary sarcoma conference held at Albany Medical Center, and he serves as the MR safety officer for ImageCare Medical Imaging locations. What Dr. Cooley loves most about his job is educating residents and training staff. He is an active educator for the Albany Medical Center Radiology residency and recipient of the 2020 Teaching Award.
When not working, Dr. Cooley enjoys competitive running, camping, hiking, fishing, biking, and skiing. He also enjoys spending time with family and three children who keep him busy with their extracurricular activities.
