Some of our patients have received letters in the mail from Change Healthcare regarding a data breach.
Community Care Physicians (CCP) did not have a security incident. Our systems were not compromised.
Change Healthcare, which was previously a payment processing vendor for our billing system, Veradigm, did have a security incident. This past relationship is why CCP was named in letters our patients received.

Frederic Hellwitz

MD

Biography

Dr. Frederic Hellwitz is a board-certified radiologist. He earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College. Upon graduation, he spent three years in the AMC Department of General Surgery residency program before entering the Diagnostic Radiology residency program at Albany Medical Center Hospital, in which he served as Chief Resident. He subsequently completed a Thoracic radiology fellowship under Dr. Donald Killam, Chest Radiologist at Albany Medical Center, a position Dr. Hellwitz filled upon his mentor’s retirement. Dr. Hellwitz received his Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Dr. Hellwitz is now part of a group of five board-certified radiologists that comprise the chest section of CCP radiologists, which is dedicated to cardiothoracic radiology, helping to diagnose and monitor diseases of the chest.  As part of his educational responsibilities with residents and fellows, Dr. Hellwitz emphasizes the role which both personal communication as well as the radiology report play in participating in the care of our patients.  To this end, his goal is to help teach the skills required to facilitate a style of communication that incorporates not only accuracy and timeliness but also a sense of compassion and one which fosters the development of fruitful relationships with our referring physicians. In addition to the radiographic manifestations of diseases of the chest, Dr. Hellwitz’s interest lies in the mechanisms by which those diseases transform the underlying normal physiology into pathology and how those changes ultimately manifest as identifiable findings on imaging exams.

Dr. Hellwitz is married, and he and his wife, Laura, have two grown daughters. He and Laura enjoy music, good food, and the outdoors.  Dr. Hellwitz spends his spare time building historically-accurate scale models of medieval French and Austrian castles using only wooden toothpicks and vintage beer bottle caps. Dr. Hellwitz also enjoys a good joke.
