Ronny Kafiluddi

Dr. Ronny Kafiluddi completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at Utrecht University/Netherlands, obtaining a graduate degree in physical chemistry. He subsequently moved to the USA, receiving a Ph.D. in pharmacology and toxicology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock/Arkansas. Next, he obtained his medical degree from the University of Toronto in Canada. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at Harvard University at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. During his residency training, he quickly recognized a large existing void for skilled practitioners in treating painful conditions of the spine. That motivated him to complete a fellowship in pain management and palliative care medicine at Penn State University at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey/Pennsylvania, in 1998. A second fellowship in minimally invasive spinal medicine and surgery was completed in 2004 in Bothell, Washington. Dr. Kafiluddi is board certified in pain management by the American Board of Anesthesiology and board certified in interventional pain practice by the World Institute of Pain (FIPP).

Following his fellowships, Dr. Kafiluddi founded and operated his own private practice for several years in the Midwest. He relocated to the Capital Region to join a friend he had known since residency training. After two years in practice, he co-founded “The Spine Institute of Columbia Memorial Hospital” with an orthopedic spine surgeon.

Dr. Kafiluddi practices evidence-based medicine and recognizes the need for individualized treatment plans for each patient. He is an active member of several medical associations, including the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, the North American Spine Society, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Kafiluddi was recognized in 2016 as “Top Pain Management Specialist in New York” by the Leading Physicians of the World and in 2012 by Becker’s ASC Review as “One of the 150 Pain Management Physicians” to know in the USA. Dr. Kafiluddi is up to date in his field of practice and has a keen interest in the sciences, such as physics, mathematics, chemistry, and quantitative finance.

In his leisure time, he enjoys spending time with his family and his double-coated long-haired German Shepherd Dog, “JR.” They are outdoor people and like hiking in the Adirondacks, Catskills, and the Berkshires.
