Biography

Renee Speir is a registered and certified physician assistant. She cares for patients of all ages. Renee has an extensive background with 30 years of experience in medicine and has been a PA for 17 years. She has worked as a hospitalist, in women’s health, and pediatric and adult care. Renee completed the Physician Assistant Program at East Caroline University in Greenville, NC, and received her master’s degree in health sciences from Duke University, Durham, NC. She began her studies at Hudson Valley Community College, earned her Associate of Applied Science, and completed her bachelor’s degree in biology from East Carolina University.

Renee has wanted to work in medicine since a young child. At seven years old, she wanted to be like “Dr. Huxtable.” She started in the field of dietary at 16 years old. She then moved into the administration side of healthcare, did registration at Albany Medical Center’s emergency room in Albany, NY, and then became a patient care assistant in the ER. She was an EMT-1 for six years in North Carolina and an officer for three years. Renee selected her specialty of medicine because of the variety of patient care. She has special interests in adolescent health, women’s health, prevention and wellness, and forming relationships with patients. Renee’s favorite part of her job is the patient interaction and staff support, specifically of nurses.

Renee is originally from Bennington, VT, but came to the Capital Region because of the various activities. She enjoys camping, hiking, health/fitness, and spending time with family. She also loves sports, particularly football and hockey.
