Asif Afridi

Biography

The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease.

Dr. Asif Afridi is board-certified in family medicine and a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Board of Family Medicine. After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Afridi completed his family medicine residencies at Jackson Park Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, and Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. He began his studies at Union College in Schenectady, New York, earning his Bachelor of Science in biology. Dr. Afridi is particularly interested in disease prevention, weight loss, hypertension, diabetes, mental health, and the general wellbeing of his patients. He specializes in family medicine and cares for a wide variety of patients and ages from all backgrounds.

Dr. Afridi pursued medicine to make a difference in patients’ lives and improve their overall health. His favorite part of being a doctor is building relationships with patients and following them through the years. Dr. Afridi believes getting to know his patients personally and communicating with them effectively regarding medical care is most important for quality care.

Dr. Afridi is a good listener and hardworking physician who takes the time to understand his patient’s concerns and medical problems. He is willing to work with his patients so they can receive the best care they need, whether that means starting medications, getting radiographic images, referring patients to a medical specialist, and/or getting a procedure done, etc.

Dr. Afridi speaks Pashto conversationally. He is originally from New York City but moved to Upstate New York post-training because he enjoys exploring and hiking around the Capital Region area. He fell in love with the Capital Region after his time at Union College and wanted to come back and serve the community. In the past, Dr. Afridi worked with soup kitchens and enjoyed helping the underserved population.
