Maude Kaye is a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with a special interest in Autism and ADHD. She completed her master’s degree in child health nursing from Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, NY. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY. Maude is part of the National Association for Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.
While working as a nurse in a pediatric outpatient office, Maude realized she wanted to further her education to become a pediatric nurse practitioner. She enjoyed the long-term relationships that she could foster with families in the outpatient setting and wanted to play a more active role in the decision- making process for a patient’s care. Thinking back to her experience as a teen caring for a family friend with autism further motivated and inspired her to focus her career on working with children with developmental disabilities. What she loves most about her job is being able to connect with families and helping them with their most pressing problems. She strives to make families feel heard and helping them to navigate the next steps. And of course, she also loves working with kids and hearing their stories of success, and she’s fascinated by the way their brains work.
When Maude isn’t working, she enjoys reading, gaming, crocheting, canoeing and kayaking, and spending time with her family. She also enjoys engaging in her community by serving on the medical advisory board of Orange Street Cats, a cat rescue organization. As part of her role at CapitalCare Developmental Pediatrics, Maude also assists with teaching the Parent Education Program at SUNY Albany Center for Autism and Related Diagnoses, and she has worked with Down Syndrome Aim High Resource Center.
