Born in San Antonio, TX, and raised in Ballston Lake, NY, Dr. Krista Morales earned her Bachelor of Science in biology from the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh. After college, Dr. Morales developed a deep appreciation for scientific research as a research assistant at the New York State Department of Health in Albany, NY. The combination of science with the physician-patient relationship served as the inspiration for her to pursue a career in medicine. She proceeded to receive her Doctor of Medicine degree from Albany Medical College.
As a third-year medical student, Dr. Morales was introduced to Family Medicine when she trained with Dr. Steffani Cotugno at CapitalCare Family Practice Clifton Park. It was then that she felt called to primary care for its commitment to preventive medicine and continuity of care. After graduating from medical school, she completed her Family Medicine Residency at Albany Medical Center.
Dr. Morales has particular interests in women's health, including contraceptive care and in-office intrauterine device (IUD) placement, pediatrics, newborn care, preventative medicine, behavioral health, weight management, and management of chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension.
Her favorite part of being a doctor is getting to know her patients and families, their values and goals, and working with them to pursue their greatest state of health. When it comes to caring for patients, Dr. Morales believes listening to her patient's concerns is most important.
Dr. Morales is a member of the American Medical Women's Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians. Outside of medicine, Dr. Morales enjoys ballet, gardening, hiking, yoga, and spending time with family and friends.
