Renee Shafer, FNP-BC

I strive to provide personalized, patient-focused care that works with the patient to promote their positive physical and emotional wellbeing.

Renee Shafer is a board-certified family nurse practitioner specializing in endocrinology and a member of the American Nurses Association. She received her Master of Science in nursing, family nurse practitioner from Russell Sage College in Albany, NY, in 2021. Renee began her nursing studies at Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Albany, NY, earning her associate's degree in 2012. She proceeded to receive her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH, in 2018. Renee has a particular interest in diabetes management and women's health.

Renee always had a desire to work in the medical field. Before becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Renee worked as an RN for eight years! What she loves most about her job is seeing the positive changes in patients that impact their health for the better. Renee believes seeing and treating patients as a whole, understanding their limitations or financial barriers to treatment options, and doing her best to make diabetes management easier for them to succeed is most important.

As a nurse practitioner living with Type 1 diabetes, Renee feels like she relates to her patients personally, creating a level of understanding and a positive therapeutic relationship. She participates in JDRF Outreach and Advocacy Events, the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes research. Outside of medicine, Renee loves to hike year-round, fire towers and high peaks. She also plays co-ed softball in the summertime.
