Kelly Waiksnoris is a certified physical therapist at Community Care Physical Therapy. She primarily practices at the Latham, NY, location at 711 Troy-Schenectady Road, Suite 103. Kelly is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY, and her Bachelor of Science in clinical health studies also from Ithaca College. She has a particular interest in orthopedic injuries and fall prevention/balance training.
Becoming a physical therapist was an easy decision for Kelly. She always knew she wanted to practice physical therapy because she wanted to do something where she could make an impact and help people, which is why she applied early decision to Ithaca College for their physical therapy program. Kelly was also a very active kid growing up, with sports and exercise being a large part of her everyday life.
Kelly's favorite part of being a PT is the opportunity to interact with different people and develop relationships with individuals while watching them achieve their goals and improve their overall wellbeing. What she finds most important during patient care is actively involving the patient within their rehabilitation. Kelly believes a large part of this is associated with actively listening to the patient's goals for therapy and their concerns/wants throughout rehab.
Kelly is very personable. She wants to see patients get back to doing the activities they love pain-free while making rehab as enjoyable as possible. Kelly has gained abundant experience throughout her training. She has worked in outpatient orthopedic settings treating various diagnoses ranging from sports-related/return to sports injuries, fall prevention/balance training, vestibular conditions, neuromuscular disorders, and overall deconditioning. The biggest takeaway from her experience is the importance of effective communication with patients and all personnel involved in the plan of care. Kelly believes that patient education is one of the most critical components of care so patients can continue to achieve a life as independent as possible and as pain-free as possible.
Kelly enjoys spending time with my family and friends and, of course, her dog in her spare time. She also enjoys exercising/playing sports.
