Damian Compa, MD


Damian Compa, MD

Originally from New York City, Dr. Compa earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University. He proceeded to receive his Doctor of Medicine degree from University at Buffalo School of Medicine and completed both his internship and internal medicine residency from Albany Medical Center. Following that, he became Chief Fellow at Albany Medical Center for pulmonary and critical care medicine. Damian is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians and the American College of Physicians.

At a younger age, Dr. Compa worked at a special needs camp for children with Autism. He planned on pursuing a career in pediatric neurology but fell in love with adult pulmonary and critical care medicine. Dr. Compa was on the faculty at Albany Medical Center where he was also the Director of the Pulmonary Function Lab and the Pulmonary Theme Leader for the Medical School, where he also won teacher and lecturer of the year. Dr. Compa is currently Associate Medical Director at Hudson Valley Community College where he teaches Respiratory Therapists how to use mechanical ventilators. Dr. Compa works as the National Accounts Medical Director for a large insurer, in addition to providing care to patients at the Pulmonary practice. When it comes to providing care, Dr. Compa believes being a compassionate listener, emphasizing direct communication, and paying close attention to detail is most important.

In his spare time, Dr. Compa enjoys soccer, skiing, and spending time with his wife and kids.
