Patrick Matolka is a registered and certified physician assistant. He cares for patients of all ages. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY Albany and he received his Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Albany Medical Center Physician Assistant Program. Patrick is member of the Pi Alpha Honor Society, an elite national society for physician assistants. He is certified by the Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Patrick’s medical experience began in 2003 when he enlisted in the military. After basic training, he attended the Army Medical Center and School at Fort Sam Houston in Texas, where he was a student in the Combat Medic and Licensed Practical Nursing Program. He started working at the Brook Army Medical Center and, after two years, was deployed to Iraq where he worked at the camp’s intensive care unit and immunization clinic. He worked for five years in the Army Orthopedic Ward and ICU. Patrick was discharged honorably with the rank of Sergeant and his interest now lies in Internal Medicine.
Patrick decided to pursue medicine when his mother was studying to be a Registered Nurse. He would help her with her Anatomy and Physiology studying. From then on, he was hooked and knew helping others was what he wanted to do. He enjoys the challenge of Internal Medicine and to increase his knowledge in caring for the adult and pediatric population. He has special interests in prevention and education, as well as infectious disease. He has participated in non-for-profit community events, including “V-Healthy™ Day,” an initiative of the Center for Vascular Awareness where medical professionals educate Capital Region High School students about the impact of hypertension, diabetes, smoking, hyperlipidemia, obesity and genetics on their vascular and heart health in years ahead.
Patrick’s favorite part of his job is making patients feel at ease in his office. Outside of the office, Patrick enjoys camping, hiking, and the outdoors.
