Dr. Mehta is from the Long Island area and graduated from SUNY at Stonybrook with a B.S. degree in Biochemistry. He completed his M.D. and Masters in Public Health from New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY. Dr. Mehta went on to complete his surgery residency at North Shore University Hospital at NYU School of Medicine and his Vascular Fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. After his Fellowship, Dr. Mehta came to Albany, NY to practice. Dr. Mehta established numerous minimally invasive endovascular programs at Albany Medical Center, including the Endovascular Training Fellowship Program, Endovascular Aortic Aneurysm Program, Endovascular Program for Critical Limb Ischemia and PAD, and the Endovascular Stroke Prevention and Treatment Carotid Stent Program. He is committed to delivering the highest level of Vascular Care and developing Vascular Centers of Excellence in Upstate New York.
Dr. Mehta is Board Certified in Vascular Surgery. He is a Professor of Surgery & the Endowed Chair of Vascular Education at Albany Medical College, Founder and Director of Vascular International Academy, and is the President and CEO of the Center for Vascular Awareness, a not-for-profit organization founded in 2004 and dedicated to increasing the level education and awareness of Vascular Disease.
In 2008, Dr. Mehta established the Albany Vascular Roundtable, a CME credited program that focused on all aspects of cardiovascular health. The Vascular Roundtables have provided vascular education and awareness to thousands of health care providers in the Capital Region. Dr. Mehta is also the Founder and Chief Medical Editor of V-Aware, a quarterly vascular journal which educates healthcare providers and patients on vascular health and disease.
Dr. Mehta has participated in countless research studies, and has been the principal investigator for nearly 50 national and international research studies. He has over 150 vascular publications and book chapters, has presented at hundreds of US and international vascular societies and meetings, and has served on dozens of Medical Advisory and Editorial Boards. Dr. Mehta has over 14 years of experience as a Vascular Surgeon, is currently the President Elect for Eastern Vascular Society, and is committed to educating and training patients and health care providers on endovascular treatments and open surgical procedures locally and internationally.
