Dr. Tera Hetrick is a board certified pediatrician at Schodack Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Gettysburg College and attended medical school at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. Dr. Hetrick completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at Albany Medical Center. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Hetrick loves children. She loves being able to mold their little minds about proper health. She also feels there is something so special about seeing a child smile when they know that their pediatrician is going to help them feel better. The favorite part of her job is getting smiles and hugs when she enters an exam room. Dr. Hetrick has a special interest in obesity and nutrition, adolescent female care and mental health issues.
Dr. Hetrick is originally from Kingston, NY, about an hour South of the Capital Region, NY. However, she thoroughly enjoyed the Capital Region during her time in residency, so she decided to work in the upstate area in hopes of joining a large pediatric practice. She knew most of the physicians from the Schodack Internal Medicine and Pediatrics practice from her residency. So, this practice felt like family right from the beginning. After 9 years of commuting from Kingston (she really loves her job!), she moved to the Capital District permanently.
While she doesn’t remember the exact moment she wanted to become a pediatrician, Dr. Hetrick does know her passion started early. The proof is on the wall in her office. She has a framed picture from an assignment she was given in the 5th grade to draw what she wanted to be when she grew up. She knew then that she wanted to be a “baby doctor.”
Dr. Hetrick has two kids, Liam and Pepper. She loves to exercise, specifically running, spin and barre class. She enjoys baking, especially for her family. She also enjoys travel, mostly to warm and sunny locations. Fashion and makeup are her guilty pleasures. She is an active member and serves on the board of Junior League of Kingston, an all women volunteer organization.
