Darcy Janowski is a board certified adult and family nurse practitioner at Schodack Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. She cares for patients of all ages. Darcy received a BS in Nursing from Elms College before attending Sage Graduate School for Nursing Education. She has two Post Master’s Certificates: Adult Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
After graduating with her Masters in Nursing Education, Darcy worked as a clinical nurse specialist at St. Peter’s Hospital and adjunct faculty at Maria College and Russell Sage. She has been an item reviewer for the national RN nursing board certification exam in Princeton, NJ. She has also worked in Hospice Home Care at St. Peter’s Hospital.
Darcy lived in Vermont and Massachusetts and came to this area after getting married to her husband, who is from the Capital Region, NY. She decided to become a nurse practitioner after going on a medical mission in Peru. She worked with two great nurse practitioners there, and then came home and enrolled in school to become a nurse practitioner herself. Her favorite part of her career in this adult and pediatric practice is working with patients, getting to know them, and seeing multiple members of the same family. She also likes living and working in the same community as her patients. She has special interests in smoking cessation, respiratory, weight reduction and healthy habits.
Darcy is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Outside of work, Darcy enjoys juggling caring for triplet teenagers, anything outdoors (as she grew up in New England), and being on Burden Lake where she has a camp. She is fluent in American Sign Language. Darcy has also traveled extensively to Europe, Yellow Stone National Park, Grand Tetons, Jackson Hole, Colorado, Hawaii, Mexico and Bermuda.
